  • Nike Announces Air Max Day Drops

3.26 Air Max Day is one of the you circle on your calendar each year, and since Nike made March 26th an emphasis, we've seen some memorable Air Max Day drops and moments. And if there was any doubt that this is a worldwide affair, Nike has three globetrotting Air Max 1 drops in the works. As announced on SNKRS, the 'Blueprint' AM1 will release exclusively in North America. 'La Ville Lumière' will launch only in the European market and the premium 'Wabi-Sabi' will release only in the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions. Three colorways, four regions, three exclusive launches. Each with their own unique characteristics; be it the architecture look for the North America exclusive; which may act as a callback to Tinker Hatfield's background in the discipline and the model being the blueprint by which all Air Maxes have followed. To the white and sail, UV-changing based 'La Ville Lumière' European exclusive that translates promptly to "the city of lights" aka, Paris France – and the 'Wabi-Sabi' theme of imperfection; personified with the aged look of the Asia and Latin America exclusive. • Reebok Changes The Kamikaze Name

"We have a responsibility to be accountable, learn and grow as a brand, and although we can’t change the past we can most definitely impact change for our future. " – Portia Blunt, Reebok VP of Global Apparel Reebok is changing the name of a beloved basketball signature. Shawn Kemp's signature line began in 1994 and spawned a sequel in 1995 under the name 'Kamikaze'. The second has seen multiple re-releases since its original run during the last decade and pivotal collaborations; namely with Packer Shoes. In an effort to be more accountable, the brand is changing the name to the 'Hurrikaze'. A clear play on hurricane (which is technically a typhoon, in the Pacific) and the original name, further playing on Kemp's "Reign Man" nickname. The term ties back to 1281, with the translation meaning "divine wind". The typhoon effectively caused the dispersion of the Mongols who threatened Japan, as Sneaker Dave sourced on Twitter. However, following the events of Pearl Harbor, the deliberate act of suicide plane missions; known as "kamikaze" missions is the most known usage for the word. "By making this change we signal growth and acknowledge the impact words have on the those we serve within our diverse global sneaker community." Reebok will begin to utilize the Hurrikaze name with their newest release coming in late-March, another play-on-words with the nickname 'April Showers'. Stay with Sole-U for more on that release as images come forth and the release draws nigh.

  • Kawhi's Second New Balance Signature Is En Route

The Klawwww Kawhi Leonard has yet to play a minute of hoop this season for the Clippers, but should "The Klaw" return this season, it's anticipated for a possible playoff run in the city of angels. Taking from the OMN1S from 2019 and the Kawhi 1, the theme is the third installment in the series and is an elevation from the origin of Kawhi's favorite Christmas gift to entrepreneurship and building beyond sports. "My goal was to be fully immersed in every aspect of the design process to create a shoe that truly reflects me as a person and as an athlete. From the new innovation in the KAWHI II to the inspiration behind 'New Money' colorway, I hope the next generation of athletes strive for excellence on and off the court." – Kawhi Leonard With a deeper sense of storytelling and immersion from Kawhi, himself – the 'New Money' colorway is set to release at New Balance Hoops retailers on March 19th, see the official images after the jump.
