Coming in April.
Christmas Day – Memphis Grizzlies star point guard, Ja Morant unveiled a new colorway of his forthcoming first signature silhouette with Nike. Earlier in the day, Nike officially revealed the model with a press release and social media clip featuring Morant and his daughter Kaari. For the Swoosh, the signature comes on the heels of a tumultuous last couple years with Kyrie Irving and it instantly puts Morant in the picture with Nike's roster of signature basketball athletes that includes: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul George and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Morant's signature also is a marquee one for the Swoosh as he is the brand's first Gen Z signature athlete and that has caused quite the excitement within the brand. Especially as it looks to captivate the next generation of athletes and meeting them where they are; whether it be in the metaverse or with the athletes they gravitate toward.
"Morant, Nike Basketball’s first Gen Z signature athlete, is a revolutionary player who quickly became a global star with his unmatched athleticism and exciting style of play ... We are thrilled to add Morant to our signature roster," – Scott Munson, Nike VP, Global Men's Basketball
Additionally, the Nike Ja 1 also precedes the forthcoming Nike signature from Devin Booker, which has yet to be revealed but anticipated to release in the summer. As for the Ja 1, it will drop its lead colorway, 'Day One' to market in April.
