In this latest chapter of the Nike Foamposite, the Swoosh digs back only a little over a decade to bring back a crowd favorite. While debuting in 2012, the 'Metallic Red' Air Foamposite One was at the height of the Foamposite craze and the chokehold that Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear collectively had on the sneaker culture.
After the model was resurrected in the late 2000s once the mold was recreated, it found a revived love, restoring the feeling of 1997. And as the calendar rolled over into the 2010s, the Foamposite One and Foamposite Pro hype was running on autopilot. Having already returned once during the 20th anniversary in 2017, the 'Metallic Red' color scheme returns in 2023 but with a slight twist. Unlike the Foamposite One's traditional tooling – tumbled leather comprises the eyestay, tongue accent and collar where the 1 Cent logo rests. Adding an entirely new dynamic to the near three decade old silhouette, but also has the community split. Needless to say with a couple Foamposites already in the can for the year, Nike seems to be putting the full court press on the Penny Hardaway classic.
