Nike Celebrates 50 Years in New Spot

The Swoosh is now 50 years old. Five decades worth of engrained memories, unforgettable campaigns, quotable slogans, and of course ... the shoes. When Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman founded Blue Ribbon Sports, as fate would have it, due to then-unforeseen circumstances, the company was then in Knight's words, "on our own." And from that, Nike was born on May 1st, 1972. A running company founded by a legendary track and field coach and a former student-athlete now has become one of the world's most popular and lucrative brands. The company has signed a who's who of athletes; from Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky, to Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, Michael Johnson to Ken Griffey, Jr., Serena Williams to Sheryl Swoopes.

These Nike-sponsored athletes and many more are featured, with over 40 in total – make "loose" cameo appearances as Spike Lee returns as Mars Blackmon and is met by by a new protagonist, Zimmie who both represent Nike's first and second 50 years, bridging the gap between the past and building toward the future. Watch "Seen It All" below.
