Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Up For Auction

Virgil Forever.

Louis Vuitton and Nike are moving forward with the intended release of their collaborative Air Force 1, curated by the late, Virgil Abloh. His vision and unwavering spirit to shifting boundaries and reimagining possibilities is on full display in this posthumous project. As penned when Abloh's passing was announced in late November, Virgil challenged everything and won. As revealed in the summer of 2021, the Air Force 1 mega-collaboration still awaits release, however pairs across the vast color pallet are being delivered to friends and family. However, 200 pairs of a special iteration will be released via auction in partnership with Sothebys and proceeds will benefit Abloh's "Post Modern" Scholarship Fund, which launched in 2020. Thus continuing his mission to provide resources, aid and education to Black students in fashion. The monogram, Damier printed Louis Vuitton x AF1 is a beautiful articulation of luxury anchored with Virgil's stylistic OFF-WHITE calling cards; from the vertical tongue tag to the tab below the Swoosh, "AIR" emblazoned above the AIR on the midsole and quotations on the shoelaces. Housing the AF1 is a leather monogram case in a sultry Nike shoebox orange and white Swoosh leather hangtag. The Sothebys auction will run from January 26 through February 8, ranging from men's sizes 5-18.
