Past. Present. Future.
Jordan Brand is turning up the heat for their upcoming Summer 2023 collection, and while it was revealed a while back, the ensemble of retros come in a bevy of new looks, borrowed DNA and even the return of a 2006 classic. And there is a good place to begin – with the returning 'Thunder' Air Jordan 4 Retro headlining the class. Last appearing in 2012, the release came as a holiday season standalone after years of rumors and speculation. But this version of the 'Thunder' AJ4 has a bit of an OG feel from the contouring and tooling.
Also in the mix is MJ's 'Wizards' "Copper" Air Jordan 3 Retro PE. The color scheme is a remixed 'True Blue' color scheme that was given a touch-up when Jordan played with the Washington Wizards - and was an easy swap as the OG colorway re-released during that time period. Releasing 20 years after MJ's final NBA game. Borrowed heritage comes into play in the collection via the 'Black Flint' Air Jordan 13, which utilizes the color blocking of the OG 'Flint' AJ13, the 'Laney' Air Jordan 14 Retro – a play on the OG Air Jordan 14 Low; garnering the same treatment as 2022's 'Ginger' colorway which went from Low to Mid on the AJ14. And the 'Infrared' Air Jordan 7 Retro, borrowing from the 'White Infrared' Air Jordan 6; perhaps a little foreshadowing there.
